Central Pennsylvania...

Just returned from a short trip to Central Pennsylvania where I got to shoot some covered bridges, barns and sceenery, plus the campus at Bucknell University.  I also shot part of the Bison's first football game of the season.  The weather was hot an sticky and it rained on some of the covered bridges, but I think that is why they covered them in the first place... So I will be adding some images here to share and I hope you enjoy them... I did play with a couple images in NIK software's HDR effects and found the results to be quite interesting... check it out...

Been a while...

I have been on the mend for a while after neck surgery last month...

I am looking to grow Phoenix Photography Group (PPG) and Art Foxall Photography (AFP)... PPG is in the running for the City of Peoria, AZ Recreation sports photo contract, also in the immediate plans are mentoring classes at Peoria High School for parents of kids in various activities such as sports (all of them), Band, drama, or for that matter anything the kids are into...  If either or both of these goes through, and we are hoping they will.. it will mark a turning point... toward making the PPG venture get going... I am looking to grow PPG from Peoria, into other cities and schools, as well as classes and workshops, to make everyone who has taken an interest to grow...

Art Foxall Photography may also be taking a turning point in terms of things on a more personal matter... Evan has been after me to make good on a promise I made a long time ago to my parents, especially my Father, and finish my degree... I am checking into taking courses at Art Institute of Phoenix for a BA in Digital Imaging... Now, this is a very serious and important commitment to growing as a photographer and helping my companies grow for the others who have committed themselves to the ventures of PPG and AFP, but really it is also a commitment I made to my Father just before he died and to my Mother after we shared the sadness of his death...

So we hope you take an interest and get on board with us and join us on an adventure....

Giving Help...

After a rather tough last two days covering the wild fire in Arizona, I have realized that there are a lot of things photographers need to know before heading out to shoot events... one is to know what the rules are, and what you need, to adhere to those rules... now sometimes, knowing where to go for that information is not often well know, but this blog will try and make that easier for people to find those answers before they go out into the field and then not be able to do their work because they were unprepared...

In my career I have covered many fires, but the rules change from time to time and place to place... the best thing to do is know what you need to get the job done... this particular instance is more about clothing than photo gear... when I arrived at the command center for the fire I was informed that I needed Nomex clothing to join the press tour of the fire, now the command center being 200+ miles from Phoenix, where I am based, I was in a tough spot... with the graciousness of the people from the fire services present, who loaned me the clothing I would need I did get the job done, but shows that keeping up and knowing what you need is really important...

So with that I am putting forth this blog to start sharing info on not only photography, but the ins and outs of covering all kinds of events...

New services

In the very near future a new group, Phoenix Photography Group will be starting up classes and workshops on almost everything photographic. We will have basic classes in point and shoot, and in DSLR so we can help you learn and understand what the functions on the camera you have mean and how to use them. We will have classes on intermediate as well as advanced point and shoot cameras, along the same lines as the basic classes. We will also offer classes in lighting, macro and sports. Our workshops will be short trips to some of the most beautiful places in the world. Places like Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon as well as the coasts of Maine and the Pacific Northwest. There will be more classes and workshops as we grow, so keep checking back to see what we have come up with.
